"We are resilient multiverses brimming with the light of millions of ancestors and descendants...walking this path draped in sacredness and power." ~ Jaclyn Roessel

I believe that we are all resilient creative cacti doing our best to survive our difficult circumstances and painful struggles. As human beings, we go through our lives collecting different experiences that teach us certain lessons about how to be in the world. These learned lessons, whether we choose to conform or rebel, contain messages that we receive from outside of ourselves; from our primary caregivers, peers, important role models, different cultural traditions, and social conditioning. Some of these messages resonate with us and are aligned with our individual truth while others, we end up swallowing whole instead of thoughtfully chewing and considering them bite by bite. They then can remain indigestible and burdensome.

As a result, we may disown particular parts of ourselves, relegating them to the shadows while we glorify others and keep them front and center, suspended in the limelight. This can create exhausting internal conflict, confusing self-doubt, and defeating self-deprecation.

Also, attached to these experiences and messages are usually difficult disavowed feelings, painful memories, unintegrated trauma, and a hidden well of hurt. If left unresolved, these old festering wounds from the past can trap us in rigid patterns of reactivity, projection, and disconnection with ourselves and others. Unintentionally, we continue to cause ourselves and others pain in the process.

By providing a safe space of unconditional care, understanding, and support, the therapeutic relationship can be profoundly healing, inspiring, and transformative, for all involved. Through the cultivation of awareness, psychotherapy can foster self-worth, self-care, self-responsibility, agency, contactfulness, and choicefulness. In the process of getting curious about and fleshing out core beliefs, organizing narratives, and disavowed parts, the stuck fragmented self can be given space to move towards integration, richness, and wholeness. By bringing tender loving attention to painful wounds, processing uncomfortable emotions, uncovering wants and needs, and exploring different unchartered experiences in session, the client not only gets the chance to embody different parts of themselves but can also be reconnected with the full spectrum of their rich emotional life.

Therapy can inspire awareness, growth, aliveness, and freedom to live the life that you want!
